Rhode Island Whites were developed around 1900 from crosses that included Partridge Cochins, White Wyandottes and Rose Comb White Leghorns. They aren't as well-known as Rhode Island Reds, but male Rhode Island Whites are used to produce the very popular Gold Sex Link layers. Rhode Island White chicks are solid yellow or cream with some having slightly darker heads. They have single combs and clean, yellow legs and feet. All the adult plumage is white, with the comb, wattles and ear lobes being bright red.
